In addition to specific products for Primary and Secondary suspension systems and bushes, control links and spherical bearings, GMT have developed a wide range of additional products. These products have been developed with our customers and are specific to the railway industry.
GMT Buffers can be used for a wide range of applications as a simple stop buffer or to provide overload protection. They are constructed in order to provide ease of assembly/disseasembly.
Various designs are available to including profiled buffers to provide progressive stiffness, buffers with male threads, buffers mounted on plates with fixing holes and special buffers incorporating wear resistant plates.
GMT Couplings use rubber bonded products to transmit high torsional moments. An example of a GMT Coupling is the Wedge package coupling, this uses several wedge components.
Due to their construction wedge couplings allow for easy disassembly and a high level of angle adjustment.
GMT wedge mountings offer different stiffness' in three axes due to their construction. Metal interleaves can be added to alter the stiffness for fixed dimensions.
Wedge mountings offer a relatively high load capacity whilst offering a high degree of vibration and noise isolation. In railway applications these parts are ideally suited for mounting engines in “under floor” installations.
GMT Resilient Wheels can provide significant reduction in noise and vibration through the use of rubber between the outer and inner metals. Resilient wheels are used on a variety of Rail projects for example on urban trams. Resilient wheels are available in three main types:
GMT Couplers and Drawgears use bonded rubber components, which when installed provide cushioning against both tension and compression forces.
Examples of the rubber components used in couplers and drawgears are spring washers and multi-layer springs:
